National Recycling Coalition Honors Dell
with Environmental Leadership Award

WASHINGTON, DC (February 6, 2007) – The National Recycling Coalition today honored Dell with its annual Recycling Works Award for Dell’s longstanding efforts to promote individual producer responsibility.

The award, which will be presented tonight at NRC’s annual gala, recognizes Dell’s leadership in recycling computer equipment and its global policies making it easier for customers to become effective environmental stewards.

"Dell’s innovative environmental initiatives implemented in the last year put them head and shoulders above any other electronics company,” said Kate Krebs, NRC’s executive director. "They are showing vision, leadership, and commitment at levels we've never seen in this industry."

Since 1998, the NRC's Recycling Works Award has honored an organization or individual who has demonstrated leadership in recycling and conservation of the environment. Previous recipients include Starbucks, McDonald’s Corp. and Environmental Defense.

"When it comes to product recovery and recycling, our commitment to our customers and our shared Earth is clear and simple: programs that help consumers make a difference will always be a cornerstone of Dell’s global business," said Dell Chairman and CEO Michael Dell. "From the time we conceive and design a product to the point when that product is responsibly recycled, we seek to minimize our company’s impact on the world around us and empower our customers to join us," Mr. Dell said.

Dell completed the rollout of its global recycling policy in December 2006 and remains the only computer manufacturer to offer consumers free recycling services for its own branded computer equipment without requiring new product purchases.

Through state and regional partnerships with Goodwill Industries and the National Cristina Foundation, Dell encourages the donation of unwanted computer equipment and other electronics for recycling or reuse purposes.
